Sites that are my favorites

The following are some of my favorite websites.  My descriptions are brief and are designed merely to give you an idea about the nature of the website.  They do not in any way encompass the breadth of the extraordinary work done by these organizations.

www.farmsanctuary.org   (a sanctuary for sick or "downer" farm animals rescued from slaughter; this organization is dedicated to exposing the cruelties of factory farming and the slaughterhouse)

www.tribeofheart.org   (this organization produces media and arts projects encouraging compassionate living towards all living beings; it produced the documentary The Witness)

www.upc-online.org   (United Poultry Concerns; a sanctuary for chickens that were rescued from abominable conditions)

www.wfad.org   (this provides information about the annual world event, World Farm Animal Day)

www.oasissanctuary.org   (a sanctuary for animals, operated by Eddie Lama. who is featured in The Witness)

www.grey2kusa.org   (this organization exposes the cruelties involved in greyhound racing)

www.animalvoices.com   (an award-winning, independent, networking source of information, boycotts, action alerts, editorials and compelling photography about animal rights and its defenders.)

http://www.helpsleddogs.org  (an organization trying to educate people about the horrors of dog sled racing)

www.veganoutreach.org (this organization provides an enormous amount of information about the vegan lifestyle, including ethics and health issues, and has an informative pamphlet with photos of factory farming practices, and the benefits of a vegan lifestyle.  The pamphlets are available for you to distribute for a nominal donation)

http://raggyrat.co.uk  (makes adorable quality rat-related items -- cuddly rat puppets, rat backpacks, and more)

http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need -- providing food for some of the 27 million unwanted animals given to shelters in the US every year. Over 10 million animals are put to death every year in the US alone because they are unwanted, abandoned, or abused.

Each click on the purple "Feed an Animal in Need" button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food for an animal at North Shore Animal League America or at one of the Fund For Animals' world renowned animal sanctuaries, including the Black Beauty Ranch in Texas and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in California. Funding for food is paid by site sponsors, whose banners appear after you click the purple button, and goes to our aforementioned charity partners.
